NumisMedia Weekly Market Report
The Year Officially Starts with FUN
January 6, 2020
Global uncertainty has been fueling the metals market over the last couple of weeks, and this morning Gold has reached $1,573 an ounce. With the positive metals market, dealers are optimistically looking forward to this week's FUN Show, the first major event of the new year. Dealer teletypes have already begun to show more activity as some dealers are back in the market from their long holidays. There were, however, a few major dealers running higher buy prices throughout the month of December for specific needs, especially for Silver Dollars.
Heritage Auctions will be hosting the official auction for this 65th Annual FUN Convention with a Signature Sale and their always heavily anticipated Platinum Night. Strong buyers from around the world will be in attendance, or represented at the sales, which feature numerous rarities.
1927 D $20 St. Gaudens PCGS MS65+ CAC is available at Heritage Auctions FUN U.S. Coins Signature Sale in Orlando, Florida, January 8-12, 2020

Platinum Night will begin with the Rollo Fox Collection of $20 Gold St. Gaudens. This is a superbly high grade collection with several coins that will not be available again for years to come. The 1927 D $20 St. Gaudens in PCGS MS65+ CAC available for sale has a current NumisMedia CAC value of over $2 million. The last time an MS65 traded at auction was at the 2006 FUN Sale by Heritage where it realized over $1.3 million. There is an MS67 which sold for nearly $1.9 million in a Heritage Sale in 2005.
Also available from the Heritage sale, the 1921 St. Gaudens in PCGS MS64, with a current Market value of $380,000, is a date that has only around 150-175 known surviving coins. The highest grade is MS66 and there are only 27 coins certified in MS63 and higher by PCGS and NGC combined. Sticking with the Saint theme, the 1930 S St. Gaudens in PCGS MS66 that is up for bid has a Market value of $230,000. There are 3 coins certified at MS66+ with none higher and the last MS66 traded at auction was at the FUN Sale in 2012 where it realized $230,000. Below are some other highlights from this very intriguing Heritage FUN Sale.
