Auctions Inspire Market Advances

With thousands of sales from the most recent ANA auctions, results are still being reported. But from what we have seen so far, the market is moving to higher levels. While there are some slight declines, the majority of adjustments appear very strong with the overall market steady at current levels. Gold advanced over the $1,900 mark early last week before falling back to the $1,800 level this morning. Silver is currently at $40.84. Be sure to check current prices in this volatile market.

There are advances in this week's LD Wholesale Market Dealer Price Guide in all of the Copper coin charts with Proof Half Cents leading the way. The 1836 PR65 Brown is up to $12,650 Market, while the 1845 and 1847 Restrikes in Brown are rising in PR65 and higher. The 1845 is $10,500 in PR66 and the 1847 is $11,500 in the same grade. In Large Cents the 1795 Lettered Edge in MS65 Brown is up to $62,500 and the 1803 Small Date Large Fraction in MS64 Brown is $14,000. Not to be left out, the Two Cents series is showing some signs of life with numerous adjustments, mostly higher. The 1872 is stronger in MS64 Red and Brown as well as the Red.

Seated Dimes are showing increases in the 1845 O in grades MS60 through MS62. This is a very rare date with none certified above the MS62 grade at NGC or PCGS. There has been quite a bit of activity in Full Band Mercury Dimes, including several of the better dates in higher grades. The 1917 S in MS66 is up to $1,300, the 1921 D in MS64 is now at $2,950, and the 1927 D in MS66 is $13,850. Barber Quarters are exhibiting renewed strength in grades MS64 and higher. The 1893 S advanced to $2,100 in MS64 and the 1898 O jumped to $13,250 and $17,750 in MS66 and MS67, respectively.
