Dealers Counting on Baltimore
Each time Gold and Silver make new highs, they tend to fall back somewhat creating opportunities. These swings in the prices of metals are allowing buyers to take advantage of downturns to purchase additional items for their portfolios. Proof Silver Eagles in the OGP moved to $62 wholesale last week before falling back to the $60 level. Proof Gold Eagles traded at $1,640 last week but begin this week at $1,625.
Dealers will be headed for Baltimore this week for the Whitman Coin and Collectibles Expo. This show has continued to be one of the best attended conventions in the country. With so much interest in Gold and Silver, dealers expect to have a successful show. Besides Gold, coin dealers will be looking for premium quality Type, Seated coins, and all the Silver Dollars they can carry back to their stores. Common Walkers seem to be gathering steam as a few buyers are looking for quantities, especially in MS65.
In this week's Moderns Edition of the Wholesale Market Dealer Price Guide the majority of adjustments are in coins associated with Gold, Silver and Platinum. All of the Silver State Quarters have advanced in grades up to PR65. Many of the Silver Kennedy Halves from 1998 to date have increased up to PR67; many of these coins had been lethargic with few advances until the Silver price forced them to these new higher levels. Numerous Gold and Silver Eagles have increased in MS and Proof 68 and higher this week and the 2009 UHR is up to a Market price of $2,500 in MS69.
