Metals and Dollars Still the Focus
The ANA in Sacramento lacked any measurable amount of retail but most dealers managed to save the show by doing business with each other. Many dealers are looking for Dollars, Type coins, and just about anything in Gold. Quality appears to be the main theme for numismatic coins because most that attracted premium prices were either CAC or + designation coins.
With metals up as the week begins, the Teletypes have anxious buyers trying to acquire all varieties of coins. Silver Proof Eagles in OGP are up to $58 wholesale and the one-ounce Gold Eagles are trading at $1,640 among dealers. The 2009 UHR is extremely active, now at $2,400 Market. Most dealers are very aggressive with all bullion related coins, bars and bags.
In this week's HD Wholesale Market Dealer Price Guide advances were minimal in most series. The exceptions appear in Morgan and Peace Dollars where increases can be seen across the charts up to MS66. Large quantities of all Dollars in all grades are in demand and dealers are being very aggressive at this time. Even more interesting is the number of dealers who are offering to sell Dollars at even higher premiums. Sometimes greed has a tendency to slow down a rising market. The majority of changes in the U.S. Gold charts are lower because the price of bullion is down from the last issue.
