Morgan and Peace Dollars Sought in Quantities

In this week's HD Wholesale Market Dealer Price Guide there are many increases for Bust and Seated Half Dollars and Dollars. The 1828 Bust Half in MS66 has increased to $15,250 and the 1795 Flowing Hair Half is up to $13,500 in AU50. While most Seated Halves are steady at current levels in MS65 and higher, the MS64's are attracting some higher Market prices. Buyers consider these reasonably priced compared to the higher grades but unattractive toned coins will typically sell at discounts of current levels.

Morgan and Peace Dollars are in high demand and have been for the last few months and prices have shown minor increases along the way. But in the last couple of weeks price increases have been more dramatic in MS63 through MS66. MS63 Morgan Dollars are now at $52 Market and MS64's are $72. The MS65's have advanced to $154 and MS66 is now at $260. The top buyers on the teletypes are looking for large quantities of all these grades.

Common Peace Dollars have increased in MS60 up to MS65. The MS64's are now at $54 wholesale and the MS65's are $128. Again, large quantities are needed. The NGC certified GSA Carson City Dollars are very active at current levels, although some of the lower grades have retreated slightly. The rare dates are extremely difficult to locate so they will attract aggressive buyers at auctions. The 1878 CC DMPL GSA has advanced to $8,450 in MS64 and the 1881 CC DMPL in MS65 is now $4,775.
